The schematic view extracts a sparse transparent cyan/white light mask once at startup;
satellite terrain is discarded. Land/coasts/borders come from the Natural Earth vectors above.
Close zoom uses native-resolution 512px offline light tiles produced by tools/Generate-CityLightTiles.ps1
from the same 13500 x 6750 NASA source and the same light extraction formula. Only visible tiles
are decoded in the client, with a 24-entry cache; the entire source is not decoded at runtime.
Close-zoom geography is rasterized offline from the same Natural Earth vectors into another 512px
tile atlas by tools/Generate-GeographyTiles.ps1, avoiding full-world vector redraws during pan/zoom.
Each visible layer has a 24-entry decoded tile cache. Maximum zoom is bounded by native resolution and DPI.
